I like listening to something other than a 4/4 beat while still enjoying the progressive elements. You are right, though, it is difficult to dance to in a club, but I could get used to it after a while.

If you haven't listened to last year's Sasha and Zabiela set on Annie Nightingale's show, give it a shot. You might just change your opinion about prog breaks.

I find the beat to be more interesting than the usual 4/4 beats.

i cant fucking listen to Ferry anymore, cause of breaks, even tho i love his vocals, melodies and the whole shebang. anything breaks is just another soso interesting element to a track or set. 44 all the time is boring, and bass is so crucial to gettin the party rockin|

tho some people claim breaks are undanceable. thats just bullshit...

I like prog breaks but for me it's more listening material than club/mixing material. I'd probably find it kinda boring in a club.

Faves:

Halogen vs Nash T - On a Bridge (original)
Trafik - Your Light (luke chable breaks mix)
21st Century Fux - Sunspirit (chable & gough oreo breaks mix)
Bermuda Triangle - Tay Do 22
Pat Fosheen - The Unthinkable (habersham mix)

my opinion on prog breaks isnt negaitve or anything like that,
i just wanted to understand what draws people to it lately,
with it becoming so big (ex: bedrock & 3 beat opening sublabels especially for prog breaks).

that genre is experiencing a tremendous boom, and i wanna understand the why's and the how's.

I think it's part artistic movement, part follow-the-leader. By the end of 2002, top progressive DJs sensed they were running out of steam with deep 4/4 material, and began to put out feelers for other styles. Sasha experimented with some breaks on Airdrawndagger and Bedrock Breaks started up at the beginning of 2003. That opened the door for new talent, like Zabiela and Chable, whose entrance marked progressive breaks as the "next big thing." Digweed gave a formal stamp of approval with Forge. From there, progheads dutifully followed suit in maintainance of their image and attitude. Involver has fully sealed the deal.

breaks are my favorite type of electronica, however in the club i would rather hear a 4x4 beat, keeps the energy going a bit better. some breaks tracks can though, like trafik - your light (luke chable remix) or infusion legacy junkie xl remix. i think what draws me to breaks is that they are so dynamic, especially with the percussion and the drum line up. you can have a lot of different kick arrangments for breaks but there is only few for 4x4 beat.

One of my favourite all-time progreesive tunes is "Papua New Guinea" by The Future Sound of London.
It's an incredible tune considering it was made way back in the '92/'93 era.

I've been constantly impressed by Sasha as well and would like to hear more this sort of thing
