Maybe some people have to realize that it isn't Germany, Italy and France who is running the show in Europa, nowadays there are other teams who are running the show.

I think that was evident in world cup 02 with the likes of turkey and south korea etc doing well.

What the great teams of old have to realise is that while they were covering themselves in glory over past wc and ec wins other teams like sweden, greece and latvia were building up strong teams.

the world is a much more level playing field now and until the big names reealise that and learn to work harder they will continue to get embarrased by the "smaller nations".

it hasn't become "dull" but i'm a bit worried about the overall success of the cup now. considering the big teams to be a group of 6 including england, france, italy, germany, holland and spain, only holland is in competition (and could be eliminated today). yeah, portugal and czech republic became fans' favourites the last few years, but we surely are 'smaller' than those 6.

a probable reason about what is behind this is the huge number of matches that players do in the whole season, in the biggest clubs. that was more than clear the last world cup.

this is also very comparable to this year's champions league, which obviously doesn't have to do with physical aspects, porto and monaco did as much or more games than the other big teams. dunno exactly what's going on

Personally I think the tournament has been fantastic so far. There have been so many great exciting matches - all worth watching for one reason or another. As a neutral spectator it's been fantastic!

i think teams with too many stars in it may be too litle motivated. which makes them bad.

i don't mind at all they are out, like france, they played really shitty fotball, not interesting at all this cup.

but matter of fact, there hasn't been that many good games played, from about 30 games played so far or so, i can honestly say there's maybe 5 or 6 games that showed a good competition level.

Thats bad in this kind of major tournament.

i think it was more like 5 or 6 matches of an absolutely awesome level, 5 or 6 of bad quality, and the rest of a good level

compared to wc2002, i think it has been more spectacular and fun to watch. i remembered most of the games two years ago being disappointing, probably the worst tournament i've seen in terms of excitingness.

i also think you're just a bit frustrated with the tournament because the teams you support are out. be a little less biased, and enjoy football.

hehe you are a bit biased too because your team did good so far...

i am bit old fashioned i guess, i prefer seeing matches involving the big teams, much more exciting than let say a final involving Greece and Sweden or something like that.
