What is good in-club recording equipment?

I'm tryin to help a club-owner out near me by helping set up(or at least organize) a recording system for the club-sets.

What I'm wondering, is what is the best way to go about this? Audigy 2 with good CPU? Or digital recorder, or what?

The main use(that I am thinking of at least) is to put partial mixes up on the website after a clubnight to help advertise the style and make people want to come. Something like www.clubglow.com does.

Any input on the subject would be greatly appreciated, and if possible specific examples(make and model #) would be the best =P.

Thanks!

~Ryan

for club recording there are many better soundcards than the audigy 2. The audigy 2 honestly sucks ass when compared to more dedicated recording cards. It's mainly designed for gamers, not recording. For recording needs check out the m-audio audiophile 24/96 for unbalanced, and delta 44 for balanced.

Thanks for that warning. I would suggest you get a good recording sound card and just run one of the outputs from the mixer into the sound card. Then record onto the laptop using something like sound forge.

I would say a laptop with PCMCIA or a DAT or Minidisc, practically no sound quality will be lost with any of these and the finished product is in digital format for further processing/burning etc.
