recording a set

what software do you reccommend for recording a set? and what would I need to be able to split my set into different tracks if I'm burning CDs?

also, what is the best way to connect a mixer to your laptop? midi or just into the line-in jack? and do I need anything special to connect midi to my laptop?

You just need any audio recording software.. like soundforge, cooledit (audition) and maybe some mastering tools just to bring the levels up..

to split your tracks up you need to make a cue file.. there are some good tutorials on this site as well as djmixes2k forum.. look them up on how to make them.

If your connecting to your laptop for recording, then not through midi (my understanding.. not 100% tho).. the best way would be the line in..

Apparently, I used Samplitude 7.0. I can straight away rec it in without any lagging and it seem fine to me.

After that, on 'slicing' into different tracks, all i need to do is to place the track cursor as 1 2 3 4 etc. That indicate this particular part had been spilt up into tracks.

For burning, the program had its own icon and you can burn it straightaway. There you go and you are done.

I use this s/w and it is very useful to me at work.

By using others, you might need to do CUE FILE to spilt up ur tracks.

One is little slower then the other.

Cheers and good luck.
