wow.... im quite possibly the biggest FL studio n00b on the planet--superwave p8 help

ok.. lol. this is embarassing.

i want to try and experiment with the whole saw wave melody sounds. like what people who dont know squat about trance would tipically call the "trancy" sound. now, i have the "superwave p8" plugin. where do i go from there. i mean. im assuming i use it in the mixer, but in order to use the plugin in the mixer and get that sound, i have to have a melody created using some type of sound effect, and then upload the plugin onto one of the FX mixer channel things. if im wrong then please correct me. if im right so far then just keep reading. now, what type of sound effect am i supposed to make the melody in to load the plugin to. i dont know why, but i cant get that sound i want at all. its hard to explain, considering i dont know anything about vst plugins etc or what im trying to acheive. if you kindo understand what im gettin at, lend me some help please. i cant seem to find any help anywhere else online.... lol, wow

A quick step-by-step:

Go in the Step Sequencer and right click any sound channel (1).
Chosse Add -> Superwave p8. If its not on the list, choose "More...", then u will see a list of plugins. Press the refresh button to detect it, and it should be inserted on the list, just check the box next to it to make it available to use (the superwave p8 plugin DLL file should be on the FL Studio vst plugin folder in order to be detected. Or go to Options -> File Settings -> VST Plugins extra search folder, and choose a folder where u want to store your plugins)

Now that the plugin is placed on the sequencer, change its FX track (2), put it on an empty track. If u hav your mixer open, u will se the mixer track auto-scrolling when u select it (3).
Now, put on that track u did choose all the effects u want on the sound, using the effects menu (4). No details about the FX, u will hav to research which u need for the sound u want. Most were explained here lots of times, try doin a search. For a quick help, if u want that common supersaw lead sound u will mostly use equalizer, reverb and delay mainly.

When u r fine with the sound, right click the superwave sound channel and choose "Piano Roll". Do your melody there. U can come back to the Piano Roll by clicking on its display (5)

Hope this can help u gettin started.

I think you're confusing synth/generator plugins with effects plugins. Superwave is a synth/generator which means it creates the 'trancey' sound all by itself, and all it needs to play these sounds are notes in the piano roll. Effects plugins are things like delay or reverb... *they're* what you put in the mixer, & link existing sounds up to. Generator plugins go in the step sequencer like NicklessGuy described

Cause I feel it is much more convenient way to work.. and I feel comfortable with it. And it is IMO easier to control the VSTi automation.
