I don't recall a trumpet synth but wait... maybe I do... or no, maybe that was a Kai Tracid track I was thinking of -- the trumpetty sound pleasantly surprised me in that one. Memories so foggy.
There are a lot of tracks out there which I will not name which have an amazing source to build from, but I consider them either too repetitive or missing something like the physical presence absent from a long-distance relationship.
I often hear minimal techno and I'm like, "Whoa that's a really slamming beat!" and wish there could be a melody. Not all the time, but certainly, some of the time. A big slice of the proverbial key lime pie of music. And with uplifting/melodic/flavor of the month trance, I'm like "Okay, great melody, but the beat and bassline have been heard many times before and this one isn't twisting it into a new direction or anything". Put the two and two together and it's like MAWWIAGE!
Hence why Grand Unification of EDM is important to me and I cannot lean on any singular pillar alone, for that approach in the longterm would prove to be myopic and ignorant to what else lies beyond the wall. The art of the DJ, mixing records together and beyond, is part of this. Each patch, forming a part of a massive quilt, makes little sense on its own without a context to appreciate it within.
And then we have created our own rich neo-culture and history.
