Hello everyone, The reason I mist replace all of my gear is my house burnt down and I wanted to make sure I replace my gear the best I possibly can as I am not paying for it this time.

Advice on good online stores would also help me greatly.

Turntables I have $900.00 To spend I was thinking Technics 1210 MK5's I love the black color.

Headphones I had Sony MDRV-900's before I have 179.95 to spend.

Mixer I had a DJM-3000 before I have $500.00 to spend.

I had Ortofon Needles I have $218.00 to spend

Studio Speakers were M-Audio BX5's I have $299.95

And finaly I have $80.00 to spend on Vinyl Case.

Any better ideas of what to replace my equip with would be great.
If it helps to know all of this runs into my Apple Powerbook through a M-Audio Firewire 410 for recording.
I want to get the most out of my money this time arround since I have been useing my old equip since the begining.

*edit* It should be noted that I do have a few hundred dollars of my own money I can throw in if there is a item that is that much better for a hundred or two more then what insurance has paid me.*edit*

Well I just bought all the parts to replace my computer, but beware when buying new stuff its very tempting to just pay retail and go the easy route. Even though I have money to pay retail for everything I'm still going through eBay for my Technics and new DN-X1500 mixer as I'll definately get the best deals that way. Even though it might take some more time, you'll have more money to spend on records or whatever. Bargain shop, you won't regret it!

With my insurance policy tho I had to spend all of the money or I loose it and I have $2500.00 to spend on vinyl so i wana spend all that money on my equip.

You're going to get alot of recommendations for sennheiser (spelling) hd-280 pros, in the headphone department. They are within your pricerange, and they are the best out there. Some people (including me) choose not to get those though, because they arent the best for everyones djing style. I kept getting poked in the neck by that plastic piece that stuck out, and i just couldnt change my monitoring habits, so a good alternative would be technics rpdj1200, or 1210. The pioneer 1000's are good too, but i dont really like them as far as durability goes, they also are a bit overpriced IMO.

For tables, any techs should be fine.

For the mixer, i would suggest you try to get a little more money in the mixer department...im not sure how insurance works, but maybe they could take some of the credit off of headphones, and needles, and tables and put it in the mixer department, but if not id reccommend using that 200 dollars to get a better mixer. If 500 stays your limit buy a Vestax pcv-275 for sure. If you can go a little higher, i would buy the denon dnx-1500, or maybe ecler nuo5 (these both have four channels with effects.)

With the insurance I must spend every dollar that I listed above or loose it.

As far as more money I have money I can add to any of the items above as long as there is good reason to do so.

I really love the look of the Elcer mixer how do they compare with other brands? such as Tascam or Rane?

It would probably be best to invest some of your own money in the mixer, but im very surprised that youre only getting 500 for the djm-3000, they seem to have given you more than enough to replace the other items (900 is plenty of money for a pair of techs, and 179 is more than enough for some sony mdrv700's) but 500 seems way low for a djm-3000, when you compare it to the amount of money thier giving you on the other products. I would think a djm-3000 would be close to $800 or $900.

$500 seems like a price they might give you for a djm-300, but not a 3000.

Are the Technics Headphones better then the MDRV-900's? I need to spend the money so whats the best DJ/Producer headphone arround $180

I used the MDRV-900's cause I used them for DJing and Production work. They fit over the ear better then most this is what I will want in any headphones I go with and I am willing to add $200-300 on the mixer if it is worth spending that much more.

Also because I got items like Logic Pro at edu prices I have to now cover the other part of that bill with my own money because I am no longer in school.
