Of course, you know I am going to say Emotional Technology because how often does pop music get supercharged with megadoses of esoteric sound processing techniness? And the answer is, hardly ever because most people belong to ONE camp but never step into the OTHER. BT evolved doing this since IMA, and I think *all* of his albums are wonderful and surprisingly consistent given his diversity.
10 Years In The Life is a good sum-up of his career pre-ET though. Liner notes have some neat stories behind the songs.

So even if it is technically a double album, I would forthrightly have to recommend this one if you don't own any BT albums. (It is a parallel analog to R&R.)

ESCM, hands down. Movement in Still Life import version comes in 2nd.
I didn't care for IMA too much, but Tripping The Light Fantastic is SOOOO good.

It's a tough decision between Ima and ECSM...but if I had to choose I would pick ECSM, every song on there is pure magic.
Ima is still amazing though, especially "Sasha's Voyage of Ima" on the 2disc version.

Holy moly agreement! That was an epic meeting of minds. Back then, too, they used to call it epic house or progressive house... I still find that amusing to this day.

I think BT's best album was ESCM, although I love all of his albums. BT is one of the greatest producers of our time. He keeps evolving and blowing peoples minds. He is also able to appeal to everyone, without cheesing out too terribly much. Very hard to do these days.
