Well the Bose quality is always amazing...but I hate the cheap look that those headphones have...their design team should be replaced!

You probably see them on the airlines a lot b/c american airlines has a contract with Bose to sell it's products on its flights (the american airlines catalogue).

Stearsearcher.. they don't look THAT bad .. just cause they aren't all flashy doesn't mean a thing. It's probably better that they are a little plain, keeps the costs down methinks. ($150 US)

Well I was exagerating of course they are not THAT bad...but I just think the look doen't jusify the price...Check out the Pionner headphones for example...or even other prodcuts by them...the design is amazing, kind of even justifies the price. Of course the leader in design is Bang & Olufsen (B&O) -- nothing even comes close...but their prices are SUPER HIGH!

Yeah it's not bad but just the cheap plastic look usually drives me away. If youre making a super high end product make it look like it's worth the $$ . But once again, quality is superb.

i'd say they probably sound good. who knows if they are well suited for EDM and I certainly wouldn't use them for DJing.

Yea, I certainly wouldn't use them for that. I just want to replace my current CD/MP3/Computer speakers with a quality pair that is lightwieght and has good sound. $150 US is probably the most i'd pay for a new pair of headphones anytime in the near future *student budget!

Mmm, don't think that's why. I don't fly American. A few people I've spoke to about them, they're very good at noise cancellation (that and they cover your ear) so they're great for an airplane cabin. You'll find a lot of Bose "booths" in airport terminals too.

BOSE speakers are generally shit (understatement alert), but these headphones appear to be fairly decent. Of course, you can still get higher quality at a lower price with SONY, Senn or many others.

I've tried 2 different pairs of headphones with active noise cancellation.

The first was BOSE...well, I'd say the active nose cancellation was increadible. They were very lightweight and fit well. With that been said, this pair was for professional flying...and although this shows produst quality, the price was in the thousands range. I don't know when I can spend that much on a headset. I don't know what their lower end models are like but this one blew me away.

The second pair I have used for listening was PHILIPS. The active nose cancellation does the job if you want to listen to music while flying or on a subway etc. Quite sufficient and much much cheaper. But, then again, since I have heard the difference, it's not as impressive. This model was a lot better for the wallet and it really useful to cut out extra noise if you travel a lot. Still don't think I would recommend it for DJing though.
