How common is it for established producers (or any producer with a signed track for that matter) to use preset patterns that come with software or hardware? I ask because I was poking around my Reason soundbanks, and I noticed that the DaftChord loop is pretty much identical to a sound found in Bimbo Jones - Dig It. I also recall reading that D:Fuse made his track She Rides on an impulse after playing with some presets on his bass machine.
tiesto used a preset off the access virus for Lethal Industry...

lost of producers use pre's...hey if its the sound your looking for then why not use it. Ian Van Dahl used pre's, Chemical Brothers used some 303 pre's on a track(thats what I read, but I don't think the 303 has pre's? maybe it was another synth)Lots of guys use em or they look for a sound similar to the one they want and just tweak a little(I've heard that a million times from established producers).

Not sure how accurate that is, I do know that Tiesto had one of the guys at virus design some presets SOLELY for him to use. The stipulation on it was that after a year, Virus would introduce the preset bank to the public.
