Read This! Sooooo, vinyl is dying...

I've participated in a few threads about the new digital mediums for audio which I'm sure most of you have at least heard about:
DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD. I've even read from ppl that say once dvdjs or whatever players play DVD-A and SACDs, vinyl will get a major blow.
Well it appears DJs are a huge market. Check out these numbers by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for 2003:

Worldwide copies sold in 2003 of
SACDs 1 300 000
DVD-A 400 000
Vinyl LPS 1 500 000

Interesting?!?!

PS of course I won't mention cds

OH, and for those digi-freaks who already wanna say, wait 'till next year, uuuhhhhh, I don't think so. SACDs number is already declining and DVD-As still have plenty to overcome.

Until CDs have the same warm sound quality as vinyl, vinyl will never die.

Until vinyl has the same versatility of the digital, easy to burn CD format, CDs will always have a big place in our record boxes too.

Both are good, both have their advantages and disadvantages. Limiting yourself to either is stupid.

I really hope vinyl doesn't die, they might be large and clumpsy but they're cool.

DJ:ing solely with a tiny laptop and digital files doesn't appeal to me. Turntables is a must!

On the other hand, if we had $1 for every time someone posted or created a thread informing the rest of us that vinyl is dying, then we'd be able to buy several tons of it. Even if everyone still spelled it wrong in all those threads.

I really can't see vinyl dying at all any time soon. As someone mentioned earlier, it'd be stupid to limit oneself to one single medium. They all have their own advantages.

Whoever says vinyl is dying is wrong. I love using vinyl. I bought a couple CD decks now and one of the main things I miss about vinyl is actually touching and being able to literally see the track laid out under the light. It all has its pros and cons, but honestly, I don't think vinyl is going to die anytime soon.

And just for you SACD and DVDA people -- yall have a long road to get to standard.
