the rumour is that these decks are the same spec as 1210's but just cheaper and have +-10% pitch range (yay!). the motor specs look VERY similar, as do the rest of them:
Type: Manual turntable
Drive-method: Quartz-controlled direct-drive
Motor: Brushless 24 V DC-motor
Speed: 33 1/3 RPM and 45 RPM
Change-time between the speeds:
33 -> 45 RPM in < 1 sec.
45 -> 33 RPM in < 1 sec.
Pitch adjustment: ± 10 % via fader
Initial torque: More than 1.0 kg/cm
Wow & Flutter: < 0,15 % WRMS
Start time: < 1 sec.
Stop time: 1.2 sec. (1/4 rotation)
Rumble: 50 dB DIN B
Platter: Outer diameter 320 mm
Weight 682 g
Tonearm: S-shape with Cardan's suspension
Tonearm-length: 230,5 mm
Overhang: 20 mm
Adjustable stylus-pressure 0-4 g
Anti-Skating-range: 0-7 g
and the new one (dd-5250) looks very nice, with reverse functions, sexier casing and more speeds.
to be honest though, i have never used an omnitronic deck. they may well be decent cheap stuff and bnlow the budget competition away with that, but i do have my doubts that it will last as long as the top decks around (1210, pdx2000, st-150 etc). if i were you i would try and find somwhere to have a go on them first if you can
as for tt-200's, yeah they are ok to start with. its not like they are crap or anything, although it may be worth your while looking at the tt-500 if you can afford it, they have VERY strong motors. the specs on the omnitronics do look better though, its just untried and untested on my part
