I know most records dont sound good sped up or slowed down beyond 4%, but I noticed today that outside this range the records would start to drift much sooner. I think this has something to do with the fact that motor is working harder to push 6% or 8% than it is to push 2% so its not going to be as precise. Did I pull this out of my ass or is this a valid point?

I have not noticed this. However, that faster a song is, usually the easier it is to tell when the beats are drifting sooner simply because more beats are playing in a given time interval. However, I don't think this is what you are talking about.

probably depends on the decks a lot. I haven't noticed a problem with my technics. perhaps lower quality decks have problems with the higher/lower ranges?

I have low end Numarks, sometimes have songs cranked up to +8% (Critical 7 - Lost (Descent remix) springs to mind) and never really have any problems with it, usually get pretty good beat matches

i think that this is where he is getting the idea from. it does go out quicker, because the music is playing quicker

but however, once you have it 100% beatmatched does it hold the pitch? i have never noticed my decks drift once i have it matched, even above 8%
