No seemingly understnadable excuse from them to punish those people, though. I get the feeling as though those soldiers weren't exactly going by US army policy. They'd probably get in trouble if a higher-up saw this... at least you'd like to hope so, anyways.

I'm pretty sure the Army doesn't condone these sorts of things. People have gotten in trouble for lesser shit in other countries - believe me, I spent most of my childhood on Military bases.

Just a bunch of American assholes it would seem - but you can find assholes all over the world, don't forget that. Are any of us suitable to judge this situation, though? How do we know they didn't loot wood in humongous quantities and were caught red-handed in stealing from the American base or Iraqi civilians? That cab might have been the man's only livelihood, but how do we know that the wood he stole wasn't the very livelihood for somebody else's business?
