Worth it to upgrade my mixer?

Right now my set-up is 2 Pioneer CDJ-100's and a Behringer DJM-400, which I bought a year ago when I started DJ'ing. I have good headphones but bad speakers.

I want to upgrade my decks (thinking of Denon S3000's), get monitor's, and add a turntable within the next 6 months. But right now I'm thinking of upgrading my mixer to a Vestax PCV-275. The Behringer is working fine for me (though I don't know what a good mixer sounds like), but I get this nagging feeling I should upgrade. Is it worth it to upgrade? My friend said it's like going from a Honda to a Nissan and if I buy another mixer I should get a Pioneer or A&H. I can afford the mixer, but I would have to delay getting the other equipment I want.

I take my equipment to about half of my gigs, so I would probably take the Vestax out sometimes.

Thoughts??

ok your friends analogy is a little off. goin from your behringer to a vestax, is more like going from a honda to a lexus. the pioneer is more like a corvette, and the rane and A&H are gonna be your ferrari and lamborghini.

if your decision is "what to upgrade first?" then you have to figure out what of your current equiptment is holding you back the most. going to the vestax you are gonna loose some of the EFX you are used to on your Behringer, so you might wanna save for the pioneer or something. but you can allways buy the vestax and ass an FX unit like a korg kaoss pad or the pioneer i think its called the efx-500 or something.

Oops I meant Behringer DJX-400. It has no effects.

Well, buying anything else than a Behringer is always an upgrade IMO...

Anyway, buying the Vestax will definately be an upgrade. And buying the Pioneer will be upgrade from the Vestax, etc...

I think you should go with what Vero said: think about the equipment that is holding you back the most, and replace that.

Yeah i have a DJM-600 and i love it... and thats what was bugging me the most was i went from a Behringer VMX-100 to that i know a lot of people are going to be like WOW!!! but... it took me an ass load of time to save for it, and now im looking for new speakers myself and a subwoofer unit to go with them and that is because i really want to start throwing parties soon... and so thats really whats holding me bad from doing that (aside from my shite ass turntables, Numark TT1625's because i grew out of them after 3 years and iv been DJ-ing for 4)

But if you get the DJM its going to be worth it, though A&H does have better sound and what not but i like my poineer mixer better then anything out there, because iv always wanted one ever since i first laid eyes on it... and i know its not the best mixer out there for like sound quality, but like i said its always been a dream of mine to have one...

All in all its worth the upgrade... do what you feel like needs more attention then anything else right now, and always buy what you really want i guess is all im trying to say... good luck mate!

I would figure out what the difference in stuff you can do would be with the new equipment and your current equipment and decide what would be most important to upgrade first and do that first. Just warning if you get a TT your going to get into vinyl buying which will quickly drain your wallet/bank account/ credit card balance
