I just started to play the guitar recently and I know they sell effects pedals that are around $50 but they usually only produce a specific effect. An effects box would produce many effects but is also much more expensive. They also sell amps with built in effects...I know there's a Marshall one for $150. Just look on websites like www.musiciansfriend.com

u might want to consider ZOOM fx pedals....

it may be 2 years since ive played my guitar but right until then we loved the ZOOM pedals...707 is one to consider
