Because you have been so friendly as to spam my PM inbox with the announcement that a mix of yours was coming up, I have taken the liberty to download and listen to it

On the positive side
First of all, I like the style of the mix.. You have already told you were into techno and acid, and this is really reflected in the mix. I was a bit afraid at first that it would be an all-out harder acid techno mix, before I saw the tracklist. Turns out there were some very nice techno tracks in there with subtle acid influences, and that's exactly the way I like the acid part to be included, not all over the place, but in a subtle way.

The flow of the mix is good, it keeps you interested (maybe too because it's relatively short) and tracks are not played for too long, neither are they played too short. You've got that part covered.

On the negative side
The beatmatching is quite rough at points in the mix. A little too often you can tell very clearly that the two tracks are off, something which is quite annoying to me when I listen to a mix.

Also, I've noticed that the gain levels of the tracks are not always the same. Especially later on in the mix, tracks are played somewhat quieter than others. Something which also definitely needs attention.

Overall
A nice mix to listen to, especially the style of music, you've got the somewhat harder parts (flow, track selection, mixing points in tracks) covered pretty good, now go work on that beatmatching With a bit of practice, you should have it covered soon enough. And when you do, I'll be gladly listening to your next mix.

The general structuring of the set is nice, it works in the way you've done it. I would agree with basd about the beat matching, it's a bit shady at times, and when mixing styles such as these you need to be spot on to get things to work perfectly.

Echoing his sentiments again, I think it's subtle with the acid influences and about the right amount of it involved.

The main gripe would be the beatmatching but that just comes with experience and practice and not overnight, which would be why I'd ask you to keep on trying, don't put too much pressure on yourself and you will come good though

As said before, your beat matching need some work. Techno is something where this is very important. Be careful about thinking you have everything right and just tossing up the fader to get it starting on time with the other track, I used to do this a lot. It's almost always better to get a slowly faded in on time track than to have one trainwrecking quickly and needing to be corrected quickly.

A good thing to do (though some people think this is cheating) is to write down the BPM of your tracks. The track you are mixing into is usually about +/- (.7*difference of BPM)%. Once you get used to it, you can guess the rough percentage of the speed of the incoming track, and save yourself a good 5-10 seconds of bouncing around trying to find that point.

Track selection is good, stuck kind of right between acid house and techno, at a housier tempo. It'd probably make for a good earlier on set.

I was thinking the same thing. It's a good set, with some nice tracks and it's got a very housey feel to it too. I usually like my techno a little faster, but it definately makes a good starter set.

I didn't really notice too many beatmatching errors, but then again, no-ones perfect. It's nothing you wouldn't get in a typical PvD set anyways.

All in all, good stuff.

Well, can't say much that everyone else hasn't already. I just think that maybe many of the mixes were rushed. It seemed like you brought in a song too early at times. All in all a cool mix of techno, a genre I haven't listened to in a while.

thanks for the reviews people.
catching the vibe i wanted was much more important to me then the beatmixing, as far as the beatmixing goes, i was just having some fun.

usually my recordings at home come off rather choppy on the beatmixes
but when im at a club i dont have any problems at all, i wonder why that is.
