I have a djx-700 and i wouldnt recommend it if you have a dusty room, looking for effects or extra features. Imo its a great beginner mixer, but thats it . If your looking for a good price, froogle it or PM DJ Tranz.

Thumbs up

the sound quality in the behringer series isnt too bad in my opinion.. and for someone whose starting out and is gonna care for his decks.. its a great deal... (its not built to take a thrashing like the vestax & pioneer etc).. so a smoky filled club where theres somethign goign on 24/7 is a no no

and yeah the djx700 is a good choice for beginers.. my buddy had his delvered yesterday and its abeuaty ... excellent value for money.. cos it brings to u the features of a djm500 for a fraction of the cost... iv had to settle for the pioneer djm300 tho

i wouldn't touch a behringer mixer with a barge pole. the build quality is apalling and they generally die after a while.

and no, the djx700 doesn't give you the features of a djm500, it gives you a cheap (and useless) imitation of the features of a djm500

you are better looking for a mixer without the effects and stuff (as they are useless on the behringers) for around the same price. you will get a better quality mixer for it

vestax vmc002 (or if you really want 4 channels, go for the vmc004)

tu_face - is behringer really that bad an option.. even for someone who is starting up ??

iv paid for a djm300... cos i know its durable. even if its the basic 2 channels, i know thats all i need anyway. AND its pioneer afterall... cant wait to get my hands on them decks!

yep. i really hate them. they just don't last, and the djx700 is a pathetic excuse for an effects mixer. you can't even alter the timings of the effects. i have heard about some major over-heating problems with the effects units in them too..

there are much better budget/beginner mixers out there. the djm300, although not quite budget, is brilliant for beginners, although i think it is probably a little over-priced. it is very durable and has beautiful faders + crossfader.

Okay about Behringer:

Stay away. Seriously.

Behringer looks good on paper (all the bells and whistles of other mixers for half the price), but they are horrible mixers. The only one that I would recommend is the VMX 300, but that's it.

Personal experience: The DJX-700 is the worst mixer I've ever had. The effects were crap and I even complained to Behringer in order to get a full refund/replacement; after an entire month of contacting people and getting transferred to other departments, the engineers finally replied admitting that the effects were not a good feature of the mixer and that they are supposed to distort the sound quality coming out of the speakers. They admitted to this!

If you'd like a good cheap mixer, then go for the Pioneer DJM 300. Pioneer is doing a $200 mail-in rebate on ANY of their mixers (must be new and from an authorised dealer). The DJM 300 is only $265 on djtronics.com (they are an authorised dealer, so no worries) and after the rebate it'll come out to $65. Sixty-five bucks for a Pioneer mixer? Pretty damn good.

So yeah, to answer your question... don't get a Behringer.

i started off on a behringer...

it lasted 9 months, now it's fucked.

i guess it's ok to start off on one as long as you know you'll be upgrading in a year.

if you have an extra 200 to spend, just get a better mixer and save yourself the trouble.

I have a DJX700 sitting in the corner of my room, and heres the rundown of it, it looks good, I liked the faders and knobs, the sound quality isn't to bad, but the effects are 100% useless unless you beatmatch your record to one of the preset effects bpm, which is completely stupid, and as for reliability, well I had mine for about 10 months, and its next to being dead, some of the faders bleed abit, it does get extremely hot and I think this was the cause that killed the effects unit after afew weeks, so whenever you went to use an effects, you would get a massive amount of static, that if you used in a club, they would probably send you to jail.

If you want a Behringer though, get one from the VMX series, its not far off the same, but without the crappy effect unit, so aslong as you take care of it, it should last awhile, I know some people with those, and they seem to be doing good.

BUT I REPEAT, DO NOT GET THE DJX700 FOR EFFECTS.

even tho its been mentioned more than once in this thread allready, i just want to reitterate that the VMX 300 is a solid mixer, and as a begginer you could do a hell of a lot worse.
