I'm really not sure how the trance scene is down here in Naples - I've not lived here long enough to really learn a whole much about it. However, I get funny looks most places I go and blast it through the car speakers - not as though I even have a good stereo system, but this far south is plagued with migrants (that is, people who come here during the winter from New York and Canada ) and I just don't think they understand. Don't get me wrong though - it's still Florida, and you can't change that.
Example: I stopped at an intersection's red light one night, listening to trance as loud as I wanted, all windows down. The man in the nasty old pickup next to me started yelling at me, trying to get my attention over the music - he was pissed that the trance was making his dog in the back of the pickup bark so much.
Damn rednecks and their hound-dog haulin' ways!
I guess it's possible that the dog could have jumped right out of the pickup bed and into my car through the window to sever my jugular, but I was saved by the light turning green - I left that yokel and his mutt in the dust.
Not much you can do - just spread the word wherever possible. Burnt sets and mix CDs make great gifts for people you don't know all that well but suspect might have good taste in music.
