anyone notice...

that games are becoming gayer and gayer by the minute? maybe my standards are too high but it seems like finding a good game is like finding a needle in a haystack, i mean it was always kinda like that but more so now than before. It almost hurts me to see all the wasted work put into these god awful games that come out now and days. anyone share this opinion?

The new generation of gamers are too amazed by graphics to care for storyline, gameplay, or just general FUN.

I agree with most of these points. People are amazed by graphics and sound more than anything now. I find it harder to keep up with the gaming industry as they keep pumping out games (more quantity than QUALITY). Anyways, there are good games out there, but it depends on the genre and mainly what you like.

Can you support your argument with several examples of both good and bad games.

Good Games:

Anything before the release of the next gen consoles (up to the user to decide which generation I'm talking about)

Bad Games:

Everything else.

i think there is a lack of 'original' good games being released, but thankfully there are loads of sequels still being made, metal gear, gta, ff, resident evil, silent hill, ssx, tekken, DMC....well these are the games that keep me coming back anyway

well there are of course many new age games that have come out that are great but for the most part 94+ pretty much suffer from a new wave of quantity over quality, i just dont find as much inspiration in games. I mean considering all the new technology we have and use in our games, why do i constantly find myself going back to old school for more than the mere fact that its old school? when i think great game, i think super metroid, mario bros 3, kirby, f-zero (i havent even got into NES) and god knows how many more. In fact now and days I find myself not playing console at all because most of the good games of the time are being released on PC ( and those are pretty slim pickings) i just find that new games have a lack of inspiration and you cant really see the creativity in it. Of course my opinions differ from others but i just find that many games now and days are easily forgettable where as many old games i still remember to this day, also another good point is the ease of games now and days. It seems that once the realm of 3d gaming was brought into the light games got easier and easier by the minute, i find it very hard to find a challenge in gaming now and days. But even though the gaming industry as a whole seems to have gotten worse we always find works of arts that are a dime a dozen.

Games today are easy because the consules allow you to save games and try to beat certain parts with almost unlimited tries, whereas games of earlier time didn't have that option and posed a huge challenge to beat the game. The weak ones gave up, but the strong continued to play. Today, anybody can beat a game and therefor their is not much of a challenge.

I think HL2 is the most perfect well-rounded game in terms of : realism, graphics, gameplay, action, and fun
