Headphones of Today - Which one to avoid? (Or, which one is worst?)

Based on the suggestions presented on all of the pages of this thread, which headphone is the crappiest of the lot?

I'm posting this to counter that thread on which headphones are best.

And please explain why you wouldn't recommend that headphone. (In other words, I don't want a "These just plain suck!" response from y'all.)

Do you mean expensive ones(proper dj ones) or just the worst we've used(i.e. totally shit non dj class headphones) for djing?

I do mean expensive, "proper" DJ headphones, in this case.

... oh god, I can see this one's going to turn into another stay-away-from-Sonys or I-swear-by-my-Pioneers or the-new-Stantons-get-stress-fractures-everywhere post.

dude... all in all, it's just personal preference.

I know people that have had Sonys for 3 years and they haven't broken yet.

I also know people that have had Sonys for 3 days and they've snapped.

You've just got to treat your headphones like the $100-200 piece of equipment they are; there are people out there that pinch the headphones between their shoulder & ear... which, to me, is pointless.

Geez... enough with the headphone threads already.

For what its worth, people have been slamming the Sony MDR700's for a while now, but I like mine... Yeah, they are heavy, but I've had them a few years with no breaks or significant wear.

To give you an idea of how much I spin, I'd say an average of 2 hours a day, but some days significantly more, and while I try to be gentle, my headphones see a bit of abuse from travel etc. I think they've held up great, and I'm not pissed I bought them like some would have you believe.

But once again, just my opinion, and it is in stark contrast to a lot of others so take it with a grain of salt.

I just try to remember one thing when I buy new equipment: Equipment preference, other than musical style, is probably the most subjective part of DJ'ing, so don't let anything you hear anyone say in the forums be your final word on a piece of equipment until you've tried it.

My 2 cents, Peace, Cheers,

RJT
