Newbie alert! Newbie alert!

Duck and cover! Rampant ignorance is coming to devestate you!

Hi, I'm Luke (19, m, MN USA). I'm very new to trance music, and only like some of it, but I'd like to find more trance music that I like. I really enjoyed Tiesto's 'In Search of Sunrise Vol 1' (though I'm still trying to figure out how to tag the tracks correctly).

My favorite tracks so far are '[Whowever, from In Search of Sunrise] - Remember', 'Cygnus X - The Orange Theme (Moonman's Orange Juice Mix)', and 'Darude - Sandstorm'. And 'Transmutator - Orion', but I'm sure that doesn't count.

Suggestions for trance music along those lines (pumping, fierce, heavily textured, vocal-less trance) are great appreciated!

Anyway, thought I'd peep my head in and say hello.

Some friendly tips:

-Talking about "tagging your tracks correctly" isn't the best way to kick off your TA membership. Refer to this thread: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=184104

-Remember to use before posting a thread about topics that are likely to have been discussed before. But use some common sense. Bumping a three year old thread to suggest two new tracks is pretty pointless.

-Try to be constructive when posting in the New Releases-forum. Review the track properly instead of going "OMFG this was just played on GBDJ and it rocks!!!". Some release info would be nice also.

With all that said, welcome and have fun at TA.

For a minute I thought you liked progressive house because of your name, but I was waaaaaay off.

Good luck in your search to find music that you like.

Welcome to TA, I would advise you not to be so vocal about haveing a d/l'd copy of an album. If you don't understand refer to Sand Leaper's link. Also, I fixed the unknown artist track you had there. In the future if you have trouble figuring out what artist has done what and that sort of stuff refer to www.discogs.com. Now that being said, support the music. If you like Tiesto's ISOS 1 then buy it don't d/l it. Oh, and welcome to TA.

another TiT has dared step into the lions lair. Who knows what fads he'll end up enjoying and if he'll survive the never ending battle between the gods of good and the ASOT fans

LOL, yea, I think we've forgot to mention that there are some very vocal members of this board who, most of the time, aren't very tolerant of other people's differing tastes.

My, look at the size of this welcoming party!

That was a parenthetical, not a request for someone to do the job of tagging my tracks for me.

I'm pretty sure my own introduction hasn't been discussed before...

Okay. This isn't the 'New Release' forum, is it? I thought it was just the general 'Music Discussion' forum.

Yeah, actually it refer to progressive rock/metal that I loved about 5 years ago (Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, etc.) and still love. But it could also refer to computer programming, which I did about 7 years ago and then gave up :-)

I didn't download the album, I ripped the tracks I liked from the CD. But the freedb or CDDB (can't remember) service filled in 'DJ Tiesto' as the artist for the all the tracks and I no longer have the CD.

Does this site offer translation services? :-)

Apololgies then, I just assumed you downloaded it since you didn't have the TL off of the CD available.

Buy Tiesto - Magik 2, 5, and 6. If you can find them, get Tiesto - Forbidden Paradise 6-9, and someone else did Forbidden Paradise 10, which is good too.

Paul Oakenfold - Tranceport and Essential Selections (2001?)
Paul Oakenfold - Resident @ Cream

Kimball Collins - Generation Trance 2000

That should be a decent start.

paul van dyk- seven ways
paul van dyk- politics of dancing

basically if you want excellent trance you're going to have to buy stuff at least 3 or 4 years old...

Hello. Recently, trance has gone from bad to utter crap. I suggest you don't listen to it.

Goodbye.
