How to record properly off the turntables?

Hey. I am getting really frustrated with recording off my turntables. All I'm getting is crazy amounts of static. I've tried reducing the power outage on my amp still nothing, I tried reducing the recording volume on my computer, still nothing. Right now the way I have it setup is that I got two subs hooked into my speakers, my speakers hooked into my amp, my mixer and tables into the amp, and i got my mixer hooked into the computer or laptop but both ways r producing static...DOES ANYONE PLEASE KNOW HOW TO RECORD PROPERLY? PLEASE LET ME KNOW, THANK YOU

This is how I record into my computer...

Mixer REC OUT > Comp Line IN

That's it! I keep all my levels at zero, my EQ's at the middle, and I have no problems. It records clean!

volume levels

Does the master volume or the gains make any difference?
As well, the amp could be at full power?

If you got your pc plugged into the REC Out, then it doesn't matter where your Master volume is set as it doesn't effect the master out, as for the gains, just set it so it is around 0db.

I had this problem too, and then I turned my gains all the way down,

Not sure if this will fix it for you but it sure as hell worked for me.

If you have a decent soundcard, if you set the gain correctly each time you mix in a new record and if the master out is set at 0dB, there will be no need to master anything whatsoever. You only get out what you put in.
