Question adapting to decks...

i once already posted about this, but its still is getting on my nerves. so far any technics decks i use are perfect, as a technics deck should be. except for.... the evil red Mk2's a friend of mine has. he treats them like babies, recalbrates then pitch all the time, bla bla.

i'm used to decks that have platters with dots that are slightly worn, so as when you give them a slight touch, it sort of feels soft. on these, i can feel the edge of the dot's circumference. his pitch slider is very stiff... sure, i'm used to CDJ-800 slider, which is pretty soft, but all tech decks i've used are softer than his. i can't correct nearly as well, i'm either too slow, or too fast with his decks, always... the point is i can't mix a single track on his decks...

yet EVERYONE ELSE who uses them says they rock.

wtf

I bet they do rock. Try not using the edge of the platter to make corrections. Use the spindle or label or ride the pitch.

spindle corrections also mess me up. label corrections are ok, but it goes off beat pretty soon due to the prob with the pitch.

i don't mind it being stiff really, as long as its constant. it sort of requires a certain pressure to begin moving, but after it startes, i requires about half, making pitch riding a fucking nightmare.

i feel sad everytime i spin on them...

forget using the platter on a new technics deck, its way too rough and although while most of thime it is possible to get it right, it is very easy to get it wrong.

i prefer the pitch slider to be a little stiff, it allows for more precise movements..

at the end of the day, you will get used to them though, i wouldn't worry too much
