Numark CDX and Pioneer DJM 909 Video

A nice scratching video showing how sick the 909 AND then 707's crossfader is.

Numark CDX also looks like its a beast for scratching.

Mostly all open fader scratching though

I don't really like the way that guy scratches. I'm sure he's had a lot of practice but he sucks imo

The uzis and hydroplanes were ok but what about the meat and potatos?

sounds pretty cool, but too much open fader scratching.. thats one of the reasons why i think cdjs are ruining turntablism. most of those tricks are way harder on vinyl because 1) theres no way you can mess around with the record that much without it skipping on a real turntable with a needle 2) the effects make it easier to scratch without using the crossfader 3) a clip on loop is much easier to manipulate than having to backspin to the beginning of a clip everytime you want to sample it..

ahh such is life.

razzi.

know what you mean. i mean that guy is pretty talented. he does what he does fucking well and i was sort of impressed. but 6 minutes in and i was thinking - 'this isnt really going anywhere is it?'

its alot of technical stuff that is probably damn hard to do but he seems to be doing it just cuz he can. theres no energy in it. its not building up to anything. its not working with the music at all which is the most droll, hip hop breakbeat loop ive ever heard. hes scratching for the hell of it.

this is TURNTABLE MASTURBATION.

just like yngwie wanks his guitar - this guy is wanking his decks. after 20 minutes of yngwie's blitzing solos which most mere mortals cannot hope to play, im left with the same empty, bored feeling at the end of that video.

the fact hes still going and it just fades out at the end doesnt bode well. you mean...THERES MORE?!

still. now that ive had time for it all to settle in im left thinking: wow. that guy must have a seriously powerful wank wrist.

i always thought the hallmark of a good tune/performance is when it finishes, you want it to go on for longer. with this guy? i just wanted him to stop half way through. windows media player's progress meter taunting me: 'HAH HAH! YOU STILL HAVE 5 MINUTES TO GO BUDDY!'

The main difference is that Malmsteen can play shit most people could never ever play even if they practiced for a few hours every day for the rest of their lives. What that guy is doing in the video I could do after about 6-8 months of scratching. The CDX just makes it easier cause If you do some of those retarded open fader scratches on a real battle record you're going to skip every now and then or at least lose your sample and fuck up.

what makes this guy better than malmsteen is that he could probably play this boring repititive wanky shit after 8 months as you say. took yngwie decades to produce boring repetitive wanky shit. as far as i know hes still making music with NO soul.
