Get off the freaking Ban Wagon already

Not sure if it's Ban or Band Wagon, but oh well...

This was inspired by another thread that I had to comment on,

I swear to God that people are really just hoping on the "Ban" Wagon about classic songs being re-released!

Once someone hears that a classic trance track has been released, the forums are filled with people badmouthing whoever remixed the tune and consistently flaming the fact that this HANIS act has been committed!

I firmly believe that people gotta start listening to tracks before they start flaming them. I've heard some OUTSTANDING remixes of classic tracks that some just put down because they can't believe that thier favorite tracks sound.... different!

Grow up

Re: Get off the freaking Ban Wagon already

You're missing the point. All these remakes indicate one thing: that the industry no longer can be bothered to sign fresh, new material, and resort to recycling old hits instead since it saves them time and money. This is the main complaint about all these remakes, and it reached its nadir when Adjusted decided to recycle a track that isn't even 3 years old.

The other thing is of course that almost all of the remakes are pure shit, but that's another story.

i have liked some of the remakes a lot, eg ferry's rmx of synaesthesia, but so many are totally unnecessary... as proven by the subsequent remixes

Well, there's also the fact that a LOT of people werent listening to trance back in the golden era, so there's new material and old for those new (ish) to trance...

Then they could just repress the classics instead of ruining them with pointless remixes. Bonzai have been doing that with Backcatalogue for instance.

Personally, I just spin the classics myself, and ignore the new releases.

However, it it bugs you folks so much, why spend so much time on them, when you could be looking for new music? Just becuase a few huge hits have been rereleased doesn't mean you have to pay any attention to them. If you don't like them, don't publicize them in a public forum.

Vote with your words and your pocket book, as these labels are simply producing what will sell. They have to eat too, you know, and if they know they;ll be eating better by producing new stuff than rehashing the old, then they will do so. Simple as that.
