Jochen Hippel - Theme From Wings Of Death (Wings Of Life Remix) [256kbps]

Would like some feedback on this one...
I know it sounds very "unprofessional" to say the least but it's my first track ever and I made it in a tracker.
But I think the melody is rock solid (thanx to jochen and in his turn chris huelsbeck).

It's a remix of the intro song to the Amiga 500 game "Wings Of Death"
by Thalion Software. The melody in the original is only a very short
10 sec or so clip and I think that the melody is awesome so I made a doskpop/trance tune using it. The original is made by Jochen Hippel but many claim that this melody is taken from "Giana Sisters" intro music made by Chris Huelsbeck and I must say it is very very similar. So you could say this is also a remix of "Theme From Giana Sisters".

anyway here's the track:

Just listening now - Sounds ok, but at 2:11 you switch to a different base line and it seems to lose all depth - think you should layer the 2 to make it sound fuller. And I really hate the key changes!! You could also add some Fx and some atmosphere to fill out the track more, and add some reverb or delay to the snare - very weak, other than it has potential.

you're right about 2:11 it does sound flatter after that... Just gotta figure out a way to use the deep bass from the beginning later on without messing up the tightness of the track, kinda hard...
Regarding FX/Atmos of course you are right, I just don't really know how to do that stuff :-) you I'm sitting in a tracker and there's practically no automation available... if you want to change something over time you have to manually write it down in HEX values :-) it's kinda oLdSk00L actually :-)

regarding the key changes, do you hate key changes in general or is it these particular key changes in this particular song that you don't like?

I have noticed that almost all trance folks hate key changes no matter what...
I love it thou ---> "Micro Tools - Triomphe De L'Amour" is great and is one of the only trance tracks that utilizes key change...

Im the same with atmospheres, but just search through the forums, you get loads of help - and there are loads of presets on the synths out there - most of it is just tons of reverb and delay though!!
I dont hate all key changes, they sound right in some instances (Westlife have made a fortune out of them!!), but your track does seem to use a lot of them! If you are going tO use a key change i would suggest just one just after half way through the track to inject that extra energy into the dancefloor.
Dont really know what to suggest with the bass, does it not work when you just add the new bass line onto the old? People layer their bass all the time, and some swear by it.
