if your playing your own set dont you think it should be your own?

fair do's for asking about intro's, but as for the playing house back to back question, its your set! play what YOU want and try not to plan it all out before hand! play what you think the crowd will dance to.

im far from a brilliant dj, but even i know that much!

Depends a bit on the style the dj after you plays. If he's the main act, and you're the warmup, I'd play a bit lower tempo, just some relaxed stuff to get into the groove Not too many breaks, not too many climaxes. Don't take my advice for granted, since I'm only a bedroom dj ofcourse

You probably know what to play already - you will probably have an idea what sort of stuff the main Dj will play, but as you say - you will be warming the crowd up, so be very careful not to out do the main DJ!! He will probably be pissed if he has just listened to your entire set and you have burned the crowd out, he will have nowhere to go. Like I said get a feel for what he is likely to play and choose some tunes that are of similar genre but a bit more mellow, and definatley stay away from the big anthems!!
Above all - enjoy yourself!!

yes it is important to know your role as an opener. build it slow and get the crowd going right before the headliner starts up.
