Re: 10 reasons why your friend shouldnt be a DJ

2: He plays all his sets with the flanger effect on full while goofing around with the flanger and jet effect on the efx-500 all
while complaining about the apparent "lack of space in the sound"
3: He lowers the volume and shouts "HELL YEAH!" after all his transitions and/or a MC goes "oh yeah, oh yeah" after the transition
4: Two out of five transitions is completed with a spinback of the vinyl
5: He claims to have taught Zabiela one thing or another and demonstrates this in every set by slamming the fader back and forth
hence "choppin up and rebuilding two tunes into one!"
6: Turns the monitors around because he thinks its utterly stupid of the club managers to not let the audience get the whole sound experience
7: Tries to scratch like Eddie Halliwell as often as he can but due to him insisting to only having 1 gram of weight on the needles it
results in alot of skipping and jumping, altho he thinks that is cool
8: His idea of a long transition is 10 seconds and that is pushing it to the limit
9: Doesnt really mind mixing in a track in the beginning and letting the do-tish-do-tish-do-tish-part of the song play for 2 minutes instead
of mixing in after the intro
10: Always starts his sets with "In the Beginning" by Roger Goode and always ends the set with "Im still Jenny from the block" thinking
he is so badass
Check this list, if you recognize yourself in any of it then sell your tables and start listening to commercial radio and start knitting
instead, then EDM is not for you and certainly not DJing. |
OMFG i am in the same situation!
a friend from school is doing the same thing. we r orginising a PARTY with about 400 and im headlining but here he is telling me what to do and he want to do a fucing set, so im going to let him.
i thought it would had been a good idea for him to warm up because he aint use decks (just computer , thinking hes the best fucing DJ)and he plays like ministry stuff and chem bros. so i thought yeah that would be good to get people in the groove for the first hour. then me with an intro and playing for the next 4 hours.
i could have been straight foreward and told him your not doing shite. but the people where i live are into alot of ministry which is good but havent heard to much trance but so far from other partys there lovin it even though they dont know it is trance.
well also sound is so important when it comes to DJ. Well the so called comp DJ wad telling me i only need 4, i told in a way you are MAD!! i said i need to monitiors so i can hear the fucing mix properly so i said i need 6 speakers 4 for the floor and two monitors facing out two the floor behind me.
the next day he tells me ooohhhh sound is every thing, and im like thank god he learnt something.
the set times were for him tellin me was:
me 2hrs
him 1hrs
me 2hrs
i thought it would be good for
him 1hrs (so everyone can get there on time without having to miss the start of my set)
me 4rhs till end
GOD give me strength as i still have alot more issues than this with this guy for our "THE GAS" night Party!!!!
give me advice on bloody self displine for me as i should be telin him what to do. but yo see this guy is pretty high in the food chain at school!!!!!!
although everyone likes my djing as they know me for being DJ FURBY PLAYING MY DOOFF DOOOF TECHERRRSSS!!!!
but im like fuck off my nick name is only FURBY not dj furby.
My dj name is MATT ZEE.
but i cant wait for this night it is going to be great!!!!!
man i could talk about this for eva!!!
cheers
but i still have to cut some slac for them as they are noobs when it comes to DJING AND EDM
