Needle skips when backspinning

I have SL1200s with Stanton 505 SK cartridges. My problem is I get a lot of needle jumping out of the groove when I backspin for cueing.
These are scratching needles and Stanton recommends 5gr weight.
I started with 3.5 gr and was jumping a lot, I took it up to 5gr and its better but still jumps. I have the Aniskating at 3.
Thanks for any help.

I'm in no way a pro at solving these problems but, try recalibrating your anti-skate. (get a record with a blank side, and with the weight @ 5, move the anti-skate to where the tonearm doesn't move)
You might've had the anti-skate set for when you had 3.5g weight.

Might wanna try backspinning a little softer, if thats possible lol. Or if it only does it with certain records, try cleaning those that it happens on.

**Correct me if I'm wrong on the anti-skate ppl, thats just how I understood to do it when I read it online.**

Just a few ideas that came to mind.

As said... more weight and anti scate... and don't go fucking nuts with the spead of the spin back. You don't need to take off, just create a nice little wirrrrr sound.

Cheers
Nem

Shouldn't you be keeping anti-skate at zero for back-cueing purposes?

Unforgiven, I used to have skippage problems and i started to use the little screw on wieghts that go on the headshell. When you use them, remember to turn down your tonearm weights as low as you can without skipping.

Another reason for skipping is that sometimes the pressing on the record isnt that great and you just have to deal with it.
