What happened to being a good DJ?

Dunno how you all feel about this, but for me, the art of DJing is being lost.
I hate being ripped off when i go to clubs.
It seems there are a lot of good producers who are making names for themselves as great producers, and then getting dj gigs because of their productions. The thing is, just because they can make a solid tune, it doesnt make them a good dj.
Guys back in the day, say like John Kelly, used to understand the importance of building a set, educatng, while entertaining etc etc.
But a lot of the new djs just sem to be wheeling out the latest hits with a couple of their own productions to give them their 'signature style' lol.
There are a few younger djs that do it, guys like your zabielas and your masiellos, but whatabout in trance? Some of the old guard do it a bit...but the younger breed of supastar seem to think its just playing ch00n after ch00n.
thoughts...
