Confused Positive, Negative

whats up everyone, I seriously need help.... I managed to get my hands on a Sony soundsystem with a woofer and two speakers... the only thing is that at the back of the woofer and the speakers are POSITIVE and NEGATIVE inputs for the sound.

bottom line: who knows how to hook this sound system to a DJM 707?
I want to do it myself and need advice please.

In order to connect your mixer to those speakers, your
going to need an amplifier or reciever in between

Mixer's out (Master) into the Amplifier's/Receiver's
Aux, CD, Tape, or Video input.

The Speakers connects to the back of the Amplifier's/Receiver's
Speaker terminals.

Red = Positive.

Black = Negative.

i doubt that the sony system does not have a built in amp. 99.999% of sony sytems have built in amps. sony is a consumer level audio company and almost everything they make is packaged so the typical joe 6 pack can just take it out of the box, plug it in, and start using it.

tell us more about the system.

model number?
is it a receiver with speakers, etc?
how many inputs are on the back of the unit?
pictures?
how old is it?
is it just a receiver or is there built in cd player, radio, tape deck, etc?

the more info you provide the easier it will be to help you.

right, more info on the system...

its actually a home surround sound system with four small speakers (dont ask:wtf and a subwoofer, the woofer is preety hefty.

at the back of both the speakers are grey and black wire inputs (not RCA they are clip inputs where you feed the cut wire into).

at the back of the sub there is nothing but these inputs, i have stupid amounts of the wire just wrapped up but i dont know how to hook it up to my mixer.

tell me if im wrong but if the sub had a built in amp, would it not have a volume knob on the back?

yeah, you have a built in amp on that system. you may not have a built in amp for the sub.

does the front of the receiver say DD 5.1? pro-logic? pro-logic 2?

sounds like your sub is passive, and its an older system. i forget how to do it, but i think you need to go from your receiver, left front speaker output to the sub input and then piggyback another set of speaker wires from the same speaker jack on your sub, out again to the left speaker.

first post stated you had 2 speakers, now you are saying 4 speakers.

if you have 4 little speakers, its going to be tough to use with a dj set-up. those speakers really cant handle it.

connecting it to your mixer: you should have inputs on the back of your sony receiver (cd, dvd, aux, etc). you need RCAs from the mixer's main out to one of these inputs. use the cd input.

must be an older sony model since most of the newer ones have active subs.
