Have you seen what google is upto now?

goto maps.google.com and in the right corner click satellite. Zoom anywhere in North America (soon to be the world)

Resolution for the techie interested is about 1 meter by 1 meter. If you want to see something cool, find a capitol or look at the white house. It is pixelated out. This sort of feature has been available to paying customers and GIS professionals, but now google makes it free! Pretty neat to see this outside of the AcrGIS realm I am used to.

Wow, that's impressive. Just a shame that Europe is only imaged at the country scale. I suppose Google will have it imaged to 1m pretty soon though.
