Read This! Recording CDs for CDJs...

Hi,

I'm thinking of investing in some CDJ 1000s now i just have a few questions to ask of people that own them...

I read on the pioneer forum that some people have had problems with certain makes of CD-Rs not being readable in the unit, and some not being able to read past greater than track 10 on a CD... Some of them have said that this could be due to burning speed or the make of CD-R

So basically Im asking:

1. What make of CD-Rs and CD-RW have you used and found to work with no problems? or list makes that you would avoid as being dodgy

2. What software do you use to burn the CD

I have at the moment Packard Bell 80 min CDs and I am using Nero to burn the discs on its lowest speed....but I havent got a CDJ, yet, to test them. Just hope I havent wasted time with this combination of software and media to find they dont work in a CDJ

Thanks in advance

Ste J

I've had 0 problems, I use the TDK CD-R (80mins).. and Nero at the fastest speed because I don't feel like waiting.

I own 2x CDJ-800s, and I have had no problem with any type of CDR brand. I used maybe 20 different brands, in 74min and 80min. All of them were burnt at 16X though, I Have a old Pioneer DVR-106D. I only burn one or two songs to each CD though, easier to keep track of . You wont have any problems with any type of CDR with the 1000. I have never heard of anything like that.

Any media brand should be fine...the compatibility issues are usually when you burn the discs too quickly, so always burn @ the slowest speed. I personally use the Sony CDR's from Wal-Mart, and they work flawlessly for me using Nero.

Verbatim vinyl cd-r's. The best you can get. They look way cool, too!
Expensive, but worth the money. I asked this question before on these boards, and people told me not to skimp on cd-r's or you will regret it sometime in the future when your playing out. It's a good point if you think about it. And I would use Nero for burning, or a program like it.

I've never had a problem with the cdrs themselves (I mainly use the cheapest spindles of verbatim discs), the only issues I've come across have been with burning software. Since I get hold of nero I have had no problems at all......

I haven't had any problems burning CDs for my 800's. I burn at 16 x and everything seems OK.

You should always burn music at the slowest speed possible.
Never had a problem with any brands of CDRs.
