The new pope is the German. Someone tell me how they decide what name they're gonna call themselves. This guy just went from being John Q. Smithenweizter to Pope Benedict XVI.

Indeed it is. I was being a bit sarcastic as I don't understand how they choose to rename themselves. I may be one of the older posters in this forum, but I have never really witnessed the election of a new pope(at least I don't really remember the last once since I was so young back then).

Hes another John Paul II......hard arsed traditionalist....old school catholic.....as far as i know he was in the Hitler Youth...could be wrong on that but i think he was....i dont know much about him other than he is very much in keeping the values of the catholic church going...ie..no condoms for africans etc
