Do any of you know what memes are? I understand them to be a concept or thought whose intrinsic principles cause it to survive and propogate amongst people. As though the meme was an entity in itself and our collective mind its environment.
i think of trance as a meme as i continue to have transcendental experiences with it... sharing goodness across the globe.
but trance is not a better way... it is a religion. it lets my mind and body and spirits separate and unite and in unison with others.
wow.

But is trance instrinsically transcendental though? Does it have any inherent qualities that would allow such a mystical propogation throughout the human race?
Or is it just a form of music that some people happen to enjoy and that others don't?

does it not help you to see yourself? is that not a better way to understand yourself? is understanding yourself not a better way of being honest with other people. honesty movign to simplify the boundaries of communication leading to a world where you can understand others and to peace?
hmm maybe i have some barriers to effective communication! cheers, jc

Well ... yeah, trance can be a very powerful style of music ... and some people say it's the way to unite the world. But you may not go too far with it. Cause it would be very nice if the whole world would listen to trance and there's peace, understanding and a feeling of belonging together ... but now come back to reality, this is utopia. You can never make all the world tranceaddicted ... that won't work.
@ innominate:
Trance might help you to see yourself, but I think everyone here got his own relationship to this style of music ... someone likes to hear it for relaxing himself, others like it because it gives them a kinda feeling of hugging tha whole world and others feel lifted up high in the air when they hear it ... but the fact is: everyone here likes it and that's the point!

Interesting concept Innominate but i think you may be mixing up your euphoric feelings for beliefs. Trance is in my opinion the only form of music that bypasses our normal aural senses in a way and connects directly to our soul. But i still don't see it as a religion as such. Just a perfect form of communication. From the creators soul to yours
By the way welcome to Tranceaddict Innominate. Good to see more Aussies on here!

wow.
It is a catalyst. What makes it a religion, connotatively, is our perception and depth of reverberation.
Though, I don't see it as a religion but an observable phenomenon: The common blitz of euphoria and hi-nrg vibe in massive crowds to the plundering depths of satoric silence, where the only sound is the beating of your heart.
I prefer the latter because the experience is beyond the measure of words. It's like touching the existence of Enlightenment, kissed by Liberation.

As stated above ^^. It's up the person to decipher it. What is inherent is latent and unique. There is no sound like trance in this world that combines the artistry, the tribalistic themes of unity, and the shamanic progenitor in one big whoop to the cerebral cortex!!
I've never seen or heard any other forms of music that resonates to the core of me -- so spellbounded, it can only be transcendental.
That's why it's called Trance.

hmmmm.... points well taken. religion is perhaps not the right way to describe it. yes all of the above are very interesting!
Tranzmit i think i see quite a lot of feeling mistaken for belief in the chat rooms.

if trance can be called a religion because it moves you spiritually, then there must be a hell of a lot of "religions" out there.
the same thing could be said about any type of music. industrial has helped me a lot, but i'm not calling it a religion. hell, i'll bet people have had the same feelings about country music. or rock. or r+b. music, and other things in our life tend to have profound effects upon us... but i think it is rather silly to call something a religion... when it isn't.

IMO Trance is not at all a religion. I am an athiest which means I have no God. I worship no-one. Therefore I have no religion.
But In they eyes of others Trance could very well be a religion. From other people that I have observed, they come up with the weirdest religions. Do a little research on the diff. types of religions and you will see what I mean. Look at the catholic religion for example. What kinda nut came up with "Jesus". (please take no offence to my remarks if you are catholic.) How can I believe that a man was born of a virgin mother, then lived a life filled with strange miracles, then died while nailed to a cross just so he could open up the gates of heven for the rest of the human race. Besides, if you have ever been to a church you should realize by now that it is just like every other cult in the world, chanting and praying to a god that doesn't exhist.
Anyways my point is that I see no point in religion. But if trance was a religion it would be a pretty weird one as well considdaring the fact that it doesn't give you any set beliefs. You would have to make up your own beliefs so it would be diff. for each person who belonged to that religion. If you are saying that Trance is a religion then it is the most unorthidox, unorganized, and unbelievable Religion out there.
well, this is 'my' opinion:
In no way do I believe trance to be a religion. I see it more as a series of experiences involving emotions and moods. More of a personal experience being guided by the music and it directing you by how you react to it. Here's a question I thought up: If trance was a religion, what would it be about?...Don't answer this blantintly without any thought....think deep about it. What would it be about? Hmm, it would be about many different things depending on the type of person you are. With this, it would branch off into 'personal religions'....unless two people felt and experienced the 'exact same thing' from trance, which I don't believe has happened. Everybody is unique in their own way and have certain feelings and reactions to songs. I just can't see trance being a religion, nor its experience/feelings being a religion. I see it as a personal way for one to experience desired moods in a way that pleases them to a certain level of euphoria. Unless you like rap :P:P:P
ok sorry if that didn't make sense, time to head back to homework lol
