DAMN YOU I LOVE CURLING!!!
ok..heres how it works, teams of 4, and an ice sheet with a bullseye type lookin thing @ both ends What you want to do is have your rock closest to the bullseye after all the stones are thrown. You score 1 point for that. If the next closest rock is yours, you score another point, and so on. But when the next closest rock is from the other team, you get no more points. And if nobodys rock is in the colored circles, then the team with the hammer still has it for the next end.-->This is important in controlling the game, as the team with the hammer should always score. Therefor, in a close game you want the hammer in the last end, so you blank the 2nd to last end to win the game.
I like the game. Its kinda canadian, and I think it should be our national passtime. Wait...thats drinking beer. Never mind. It should be our national sport and not Lacrosse. We kix ass @ it! woohoo curling!
U take anymore shots Fatboy, n ill kill u!
Just as a side note, look @ the logo on those guys...THEY ARE CANADIAN EH!

| quote: | Lol, possibly the stupidest sport created |
WTF? hahaha... well yeah it looks ridiculous...
| quote: | | i'm canadian and i cannot stand the sport. Stupid to watch on television with ppl throwing rocks down ice and then sweeping to clean the crap off the ice before it hits a circle. So gay, |
LOL.. (This thread really reminds me of that Canadian beer commercial a while ago)
Well the sport does looks stupid (and boring) on television, but I'm with j_spot being a curler myself, you'll realize the sport is actually fun (obviously you have to play it in order to realize this) Guaranteed, all beginners will have a very rough time - it is definitely not the easiest sport to pick up and play well at.
Technically, they're not just "sweeping to clean the crap off the ice" (lol), it's usually an all out effort to control how the rock moves down the ice in order to make precision shots. Anybody that plays a full game will feel sore the next day from sweeping (and throwing)... it's not like casual dust-pan sweeping if you were thinking along those lines
The best part about the game is obviously throwing the stones and making shots... it's a FUCKIN AMAZING feeling if you make a crazy shot (like a triple takeout) that leaves your opponents staring at you in awe
| quote: | | i played hockey as a kid and i'm happy i did not play curling, that would have got my ass kicked... |
Barely any kids play curling, they won't be able to understand it. It's more or less a university and up sorta thing. I really don't know why you would have gotten your ass kicked if you played curling...

Canada definitely rox0rz at curling.. this time the men's team will claim a gold medal in the 2002 olympics (they got silver in 1998, but the women's team got gold).. so we are pretty much the best in the world when it comes to curling...
anyway, if you really want to comment about a strange sport, try rhythmic gymnastics (no offense to any TA rhythmic gymnasts out there )
