something wrong with my needle - i guess

hey guys,

since a couple of days, my dj booth is complete. since most talk about dj-ing is english, i sometimes find it hard to find the right phrase/expression, but my problem is (i hope i formulate it correctly, so u understand);
i think my needle is 'empty'/out-used ... or something like that.
its like this. i have had 1 TT for like 8 months, played a little bit on it, maybe some 5 hours total. since last week, my second turntable arrived. the needle of that table is the same as the one i had on the other, namely a stanton 500 AL (2, i guess). anyway, the newest TT plays well, when the needle is on the record, there's some 1 or 2 mm space between the needle crtridge and the record ...
so here's the problem;
the space between the record and the needle-cartridge on the other TT is almost nihil/nothing/njente/nada/zero
maybe this explain more; in the picture below, the blue part almost seems te be lying on the record ... its like its on it

my question is;
- is this bad for the record, or bad for my TT?
- needs the needle to be replaced? if so, do i only have to replace the needle, or the full package, so a complete cartidge? is this easy to do?
what do u guys advise me .... i just started mixing for a week, and sometimes, although i read a lot here for background info, i can not really understand the true meaning of words, although my english ispretty good... i mean, sometimes, i think a stylus is the same as a cartridge, is the element the thing u mount the cartridge on ...????

thnx in advance for help!

You may have too much weight on the needle. Adjust it correctly and if it still touches the record, get a new needle. You do not need the complete cartridge.

+1

check your weights at the end of your tonearm

too much weight = quicker record/needle wear = more money spent on new needles = that much less money which could have bought vinyl = you

okay, thnx for the info ... but should that weight be transferred/pulled/pushed towards the turning point/centre of the tonearm, or away from it?
and what's the use of that other little wheel on the plaat of the tonearm turning point? where can u use that for?

First you need to set up your turntable correctly.
The following link has instructions on setting the tonearm weight. It is similar for your deck.
