We calculated in advance the number of casualties from the enemy, who would be killed based on the position of the tower. We calculated that the floors that would be hit would be three or four floors. I was the most optimistic of them all. (...Inaudible...) Due to my experience in this field, I was thinking that the fire from the gas in the plane would melt the iron structure of the building and collapse the area where the plane hit and all the floors above it only. This is all that we had hoped for. (full text of the tape transcript)." |
Well I dont think its too much of a stretch of the imagination to assume bin Laden would have wanted to go through the fine details of the plan he was about to fund do you? Looks to me thats what he was doing (also understand his motives - he wants to promote his ideology, and taking credit for all of this is a good way to go about it)
Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying he was not involved cos he clearly was, and I'm not saying it was wrong to take him out, cos he is clearly a danger, but my objection is t the notion of what al-Qaida is (or isn't). And it isn't an international network of terrorists. There are terrorist cells in most countries, probably planning attacks - but these are not al-Qaida cells, they are all individual cells (some of whom may very well ask bin Laden for financing)
But then, you have displayed an absolute blind obliviousness to al-Qaida other than what your government tells you to believe...
