how many measures are in a typical trance tune....

in particular:

like how many measures in the intro/mix part

how many for the outro/mix out

the middle can be a little less confined to even measure counts but when I write a track i'd like to have some guidelines for the arrangment....

Best advice I can give you, listen to some of your favourite songs to get an idea of the arrangement

there has to be some similarities.....thyings that occure over and over.....i can literally see them in my records...... maybe i really have to throw one on and count the measures till the bassline comes in.....ne one know anything about how long intros/outros are usually???

This is how i do my arrangements. I do what's mix friendly TO ME. Because I eventually want to play my songs out.

A lot of trance songs follow a numerical order on changes based on 4s. For example, a good number of songs have a major change after 128 beats and maybe a small change at 16.

But I would do what's friendly for you.

what you said about being mix freindly for me is what i've been doing....and although I'm anything but formulaic in my compositions i wanted to hear some outline rules....

hey Channel! Its mee. You just gotta listen. don't put too much math into it. You know when it just feels right. You'll find that if you got the knack (and I know you do), it will work out perfecttly. if you wanna really listen to trance in general that is well aranged for floor effect, try listening to really good psy. John Fleming sets are an excellent reference. See you again soon, I hope.

Make sure you use exactly 64 bars for the intro, 32 for the buildup, 32 more for the breakdown and 64 for the outro. And don't make any sudden changes in between - make sure every single theme repeats for at least 16 bars.

Only by following this exact formula can you successfully produce track after track of hackneyed, monotonous McTrance that will make people want to kill themselves after the first 30 seconds.

i mean i've been making things work as is.....shit, i mix my own tracks into sets all the time.....I just wanted to get some opinions...

like for instance, you notice how like hard house jams have reaaaaly long mix in and outs.....where like some trance goes straight to the breakdown after like 32 measures.....

but check this....if you throw your mix out trk at the drop of the last build in a trance jam generally the crossovers are right there....ie the old bassline drops to the drum loop just as the new bassline introduces itself....why does this ALWAYS seem to work with trance....

i'm not looking for formulas just some naturally occuring measure developments.....

I just wanna make a track that's very mix freindly....the abstract craziness can live in the middle of the track i just want my mix in and outs to be fairly traditional and super solid....
