A Toronto man is in hospital with serious stab wounds after an argument in the Entertainment District early this morning turned violent.
Police were called to a parking lot opposite the System Soundbar nightclub near Richmond and Peter streets shortly after 3 a.m.
The 20-year-old victim had been stabbed several times in the upper leg, including a possible puncture of a major artery, say police. He was rushed to St. Michael’s Hospital where he is expected to recover from his injuries.
The fight began inside System Soundbar and continued across the street after security ejected the rowdy club goers, police say. “It appears to be a random act of violence,” said Det. Martin Vandall. “Someone dissed someone else and they took exception to that.”
By the time police arrived on scene, the suspects had fled. Vandall says a small crowd had gathered by the time the man was stabbed, and police hope these witnesses will aid in their investigation.
