A late thank you...

I dunno what has prompted me to finally write this today...but I have some time right now and I'm in a good mood

I just want to thank everyone at TA for the support and friendship while dealing with my father's death a few months back. You guys are great, I've met some great people here and probably will meet more.

So a little story now, for you Corwhores and friends...

The night before I was to fly out to france for the funeral, one of my newer friends, who I met on TA (Noree) was kind enough to hurry over to my place and drop of some CDs for me to listen to on the flight...he only had time to burn two (both which I had never heard before), Sasha - Airdrawndagger, and James Holden -Balance 005. Mr. Terry Bones also sent me a great Sasha set over MSN at the last minute.

I can't stress how important good music is in a time like that. During my first leg I discovered balance 005, and was able to get lost in it while watching the world float by out the window.

The second flight, from Houtson to Paris, a grueling 10 hour voyage was mostly at night. I listened to the Sasha set and some other stuff I had brought with me, while my thoughts raced over what had happened and what the hell was going to happen.

Then somewhere over Canada I started seeing what looked to be weird glowing cloud formations. I thought I was hallucinating (I had a few drinks on the flight lol ). The more I watched the more intense the glowing got, and it started to dance around on the night horizon.

So, taking Noree's advice to "save Airdrawndagger for last"...I stick it in the CD player...and let it go.

About when Mr Tiddles kicks in, I realize I am watching the northern lights. So the lights dance around the sky for about an hour while I listen to Airdrawndagger beggining to end. Probably one of the most relaxing and amazing experiences I have ever had listening to a CD.

So the next day, I catch another flight down to Toulouse, and as soon as I get off the plane it is time to go to the funeral. Rough is not even a word. I'm pretty delerious just from having flown for about 15 hours + 8 hours in transit. So before they close the coffin they ask us if we want to put any personal effects in with my Dad. Well I just got off the plane, my bags are in the car, all I have with me is my clothes and my CD player. So I opened my CD player, took out Airdrawndagger and gave it to the guy, who put it in my Dad's coat pocket. My Dad was a music guru, he had a collection of about 10,000 CDs crossing every type of music you can imagine, and our house had music playing in it constantly. I felt it was fiting to leave him with a CD I truly enjoyed, with hopes that maybe he will enoy it wherever he is now.

The next few weeks in france I proceeded to party my ass off as I know my Dad would have wanted me to.

Anyways...thats my little story for the day...thanks to all those people who helped me out.

-Clovis

Great story dude.

I love how music is so important to so many people in different ways, and is so intricately tied with peoples life experiences.
Makes the world go round imo

Obviously i dont know your dad, but im sure he would be proud, especially having been given ADD for the afterlife

beautiful that is a very touching story.

music really is amazing like that... it can mean so many different things to so many different people, yet it brings us all together and we all share that same love for music.

clovis much love for ya buddy. you and boomer were the first two TA's i ever met and although i was pretty shy about things and we didn't get to hang out much that night...you're still one of my fav people here on the boards.

that's a beautiful story. i feel like we both look at things a similar way. i mean your photography is the physical manifestation of what is happening in your mind and you do it with such passion and focus on the little things. but anyway, i'm glad that you feel like this community helped you in that difficult time for you.

Great story, Clovis. It's good to see that on a board filled with so much randomness and stupidity that music is what most of us still hold so close to our hearts.

That said, it's sooo on in Miami next year. You best be there.

all that i wanted to say has already been said, but what i can add is you are one of my fav core whores ; you seem to like similar music as i do, plus you are almost as skinny as i am, and that's kinda comforting.

BTW the choice of those CD's was amazing, Holden's Ballance and ADD are reaaaaaaly nice emotional/reflective cd's
