Hey. You would be looking for a lowpass filter . If you are new to filters and want a simple no frills filter, go for the Fruity Free Filter. It is excellent. Youll want to automate the cutoff frequency from somewhere around 150-200Hz up to the max for a good sweep(depending on the sound).
The knob to the left of that selects the filter type. The 3 most important ones youll ever use are the first three filters in there, lowpass, bandpass, highpass. The frequencies that are allowed to pass refer to the prefix, such as lowpass; only low frequencies are allowed to pass and the restriction relies on the cutoff. With a bandpass, instead of allowing only high or only low frequencies to pass, you allow some middle frequencies to pass. This is useful for a lot of effects other clicks and pops throughout your song as well as white nosie sweeps.
The knob below the filter selector is the Q knob. In short, the Q knob changes the resonance. Its hard to explain resonance in a small amount of words but I'll try . What resonance does is with a particular frequency on a filter, some frequencies towards the cutoff are much louder than the other frequencies the filter allows to pass. If you are interested in reading more on it, check here and here .
I hope this helped somewhat.
Cheers,
Zac
