John O Callaghan - Stormy Clouds(incl. Greg Downey Remix) [Discover Dark]
There isn't a thread about this beauty?!!!!!!!!!
The third release on Discover Dark is a corker yet again, this time by the mighty JOC. It is aptly named 'Stormy Clouds' as it is a bloody stormer.
Punchy bassline, Fred Baker-isque hi-hats and sweet syths. To sum it all up, sweet but DAAARRRK.
Greg Downey offers a more driving interpretation of this but equally good.
Top stuff, this will be rocking floors for a long time to come.
9/10

wouldn't say it's amazingly dark, that main melody just sounds a bit gay and out of place as it is one of those default-reason-ASOT-every******-uses-it style ones. maybe something more raspy would have added to the track to make it sound more complete, and better.

John O'Callaghan can really create some good tunage, I'll surely give the Original Remix 8/10. But I have not heard the other one, Pretty sure it's good though..

Discover/Discover Dark are really on a roll at the moment - for me, they've been the label(s) of 2005 so far. The original mix of 'Stormy Clouds' is good but it's the Greg Downey remix which is doing it for me. Cracking stuff.
It must just be me but most John O Callaghan to me is like zzzzzzzzzzzzz boring

You're totally right. Discover has been very good so far this year.

I agree. Discover always deliver quality. As long as John Askew stays head of A&R, the quality will stay

i feelthe same way...most of his stuff is way too generic, iv only heard a few songs i like from him. I usually check his stuff out since a few can be good, but for the most part, im usually left dissapointed. maybe its cus he comes out with a remix every single day?
Really keen on this track. Nice building and what I can say is this JOC can produce the atmosphere that fit with the title very, very well. The whole track induces the listener an experience of audio and visual. This is one important composition concept is that to bring some serious meaning to listener than just comprising a bunch of frequencies and make no sense.
