Overall, the dn-x1500 is a solid mixer but there are a few things about it that I don't really dig. One, the gain knobs are too sensitive for my taste so you have to be pretty precise with it. Also, the mixer gets pretty hot after an hour or two of use. It's not unbearable at all, but it's something that caught my attention. It would also be nice if Denon came out with updates more frequently.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. The effects are fun to use and you can do some cool stuff with the matrix input. This mixer really allows you to be creative with your mixes. It's definitely worth its price and should suffice for me..until I can upgrade to a damn xone 92 =P

So far they've only had that update that fixed the lag issue with the faders and stuff.

The update only fixed the lag with the crossfader (among other things), the channel faders still have a lag.

Here's a general list of the cons, imo:

- Channel faders have a small lag on them, not as bad as on a xone 62 but still noticable at times
- Some people have said they get confused with the cue system... no idea how cos it's identical to the DJM600 (and people who have said this have been familar with the DJM)
- Some people (myself included, although it was fixed very quickly when I took it back) have had trouble with the TAP button for the effects stopping working after minimal use, although I've heard this has now been fixed
- The effects aren't the easiest in the world to use, but give you a lot more control than say the DJM600 so are better once you're used to them.
- Faders tend to be loose and can come off (easily sortable with a bit of blutack)
- The knobs are slightly smaller than I'd ideally like but are well-spaced. The rubber sleeve can start to come off a bit after a lot of use.

Sound quality is excellent, all round a good mixer... if I was playing out, I'd rather get there and find one of these than any other mixer I've used, although I'm yet to have a go on an Ecler NU05 which could well steal the title... or maybe a DJM1000 with a couple of EFX1000s and a VCF-1

Thanks a lot Stu, that really helped quite a bit... It was going to be between this and the Technics 4 channel mixer, but after reading this and a few other opinions scattered across the Intarweb it looks lie the DN-X1500 is the far superior mixer for the cost, despite its minor issues.

go for an ECLER NUO5 or A&H XONE:62 over the Denon....much better mixers for the money IHMO

Especially the Technics mixer...for the same price, you can get the new ECLER NUO4!

The Denon feels like a toy. It is a decent mixer, but I would get something else.

I'd say if you want effects you can't go wrong with the DNX, my mate has one and I always enjoy using it. The update fixed alot of the problems and also there is the opportunity to update in the future if they release anymore.

But if your not after it for the effects and you want a solid mixer for the same sort of price you can't go wrong with the Technics SHMZ. Build quality and the faders on it are brilliant had mine a while now and would'nt swap it for anything the only thing it lacks is effects but an efx solves that problem.

Either way you can't go wrong with one out of those two imo.

What makes you say that (just curious)? It seems well built to me, very heavy, P+G crossfader, ALPS upfaders, and nice knobs. When I looked at a few different mixers, things like the DJM-600 felt much cheaper to me.

I do like my DN-X1500 overall, the flexability of the matrix input is great, I have my 2 CDJ-1000's, 2 1200's, and 2 outputs from my PC plugged into the DN-X1500. It's very easy to select any combination of the inputs, and you can even get some interesting effects by sending the same input to multiple channels on the mixer.

DJM600's are pretty much garbage. I like the denon also consider a mixer less talked about but still a great mixer. The tascam x-9 very very underrated mixer for the price. The ecler nou line is also a definate option at the price range.
