Arrow how to make this sound?

ok so I guess people will say this is another supersaw thread, but I don't think or hope its not!

Ok one of the new scott brown mix's ( in your life )has an awsome lead, here is a smaple - http://www.sendmefile.com/00042926

Now how can I create a similar sound?
I figure its two saw's and a high pass filter? thats all i can gather really...

anyway could anyone guide me on this one? im using reason 2.5.

Yeah sounds about right. Detuned/unison saws with a short envelope modulating the pitch I think. Thats what gives it that bright slight rising sound. If that doesnt work, try setting an envelope to mod the FM ammount slightly. Might want to try a fastish LFO on the highpass filter cutoff too to give it that slightly harsh sound to it.

Experiment, repeat...

supersaw theory 101

A supersaw (I'm assuming you know what one is) is made up of 3 or more saw waveforms that are all detuned slightly against each other to create a really thick, harmonically rich waveform. Most subtractive (virtual analogue) synths have either a knob for detuning each of the waveforms (eg: Vanguard) or a unison mode that basically doubles up the waveforms with slight detunes (eg: Synth1). either of these processes will provide the supersaw style sound, provided your using saws for your waveform. If the synth your using doesnt have either of these features, your going to find it hard to get a supersaw sound from it. One thing to watch for when your detuning though is its possible to detune them so theres no harmonics. It'll sound kinda off key and pretty shit. Just be careful when programming your synth so that it still sounds in key. Just go by ear and you should be fine.

Synths that do supersaws fairly easy are...

Z3t@+
Vanguard
Synth1
Superwave P8

ok that all seems fairly straight forward.

only problem is im using reason 2.5, so im restcited to either using the subtractor or the malstrom.

I'm almost 100% sure you can make supersaw style sounds in reason considering the vast quantities of reason users there are on these boards.

Someone want to do a quick tut for this guy? Cmon...
