I've got both the CDX and s5000.
S5000 is good reliable, great features, but sucks balls for scratching since the platter is so small and belt-driven. CDX is awesome, features are alright, the only thing is the CDX has two problems are apparently from overheating/crappy cd drives.
a) problems with the cd in/out button, and not reading cds
b) randomly looping while a song is playing
Go to www.cdxforum.com, lots of posts there about the reliability of it. I've never had problems with random looping whilst in the bedroom, just when playing out, which SUCKS bigtime. The CD in/out problem isn't too bad though, just a small inconvenience and time waster.

Hey bent, thanks I was on that forum for a few hours and yeah those are the biggest problems with CDX eh? Nevertheless some people may have not experienced those problems is also what I read...does yours overheat? Exactly how often do you get random looping on an average, at least 1 track out of 20? Thanks again.

I'm not quite sure, i've only played out twice with mine, the last two weeks, so you'd probably have to speak to others about the actual reliability.
On friday, it randomly looped once after maybe 8 tracks? and after that, i stopped using it, cause i didn't want to risk again.
On the saturday of the previous week, after a couple hours it wouldn't read certain cds, so again, I gave up on it and just used my denons instead.
I'm not sure if overheating IS the cause of the problems, but it might be, and from what i read on the cdx forum, the quality of the cd drives suck so that would contribute to it too .. which is disappointing. A reliable CDX would easily be the best darn cd player around! For bedroom use though, it seems fine.

I'm so hoping numark brings out a CDXii or denon releases a s5500 with a direct drive 12" platter *drools*. It'll cost a shitload, but provided theres no major issues with them, i can't see myself upgrading for a long long time if i bought a pair.

As for hands on feel and control, please. the CDX is vinyl. what more needs to be said?
Ahh technology. |
Can you explain more about the digital pitch resolution beng .1? Does it mean when beatmatching the beat would always be slightly off and would need to be corrected more often than usual say on CDJs right?
