[Psy/Hardcore Hybrid] "We are the BORG"

Sorry for spamming first of all. But I cant wait to rlease this tune. It started off as a drunken production (wanted to make a really cheesy hardcore tune about the well known Borg), but as things got sober, this tune became darker and much more Psy-ish. It's a fast and hard typical Cybernetika tune first of all, but the difference is that this one is kinda unique as Psy/Hardcore hybrid.
Oh, I also included a lead melody later on.

I know this tune could use some improvement.
What I am gonna do is:
- add some more FXes.
- reduce levels/clipping.
- maybe change the structure.
- try to slow down the tune a little without losing the drive.

Now I need you to complete my list. What is still required until completion? Is the borg vocoder too cheezy/repetitive? Any general comments?

And last but not least: Do you like this tune?

So here's the link:
http://www.cybernetika.de/cybernetika_-_BORG.mp3

as usual 192 kbps, fruity loops blah blah...

Enjoy!

Those hats are getting some bad clips in them.

That clap is dead on hard as nails. I'm questioning whether it needs to be slowed down or not.

"We Are the Borg.... Resistance is Futole???!" Sometimes vocorders can do that. Try playing with alternative phonics to get the "Futile" to sound more like "Futile".

DAMN this track is fast. Faster than anything I've bothered to listen to in a long long time. It works for psy-hardcore, but dangit I may have never gone clubbing in my life but how could you even dance to something like this? Gimme the speed, I'll start clubbing now.

Acidic power beyond anything the world has ever known. You've done something impressive here, but I feel like I'm being assimilated to enjoy it.

Now the lead melody... Excellent motif here - but it's a tad repetitive for my tastes. Then again, I am NOT a connosuer of this genre, and my advice is limited to my tastes, nothing technical I can give you.

It was a suprise to hear something like that from you.
Hihats cilping a lot.The same about snare-clap.Bass is sounding good to me and and kick too Like the paning fx.First brake at 1:06 is very nice and at 1:35 the track going to another dimension!! What is this?Sounds like laser gun?Is amazing pal.Tripy and crazy.Like it a lot.
Vocals cool too.EVIL.
Nice change at 4:00.Melodie at 5:38 is very happy for this evil crazy psy track.Maybe you must give it some other depth by playing with osc's or lfo's.
The conclusion is that I like it and I enjoy it a lot and I can imagine what can be happened to a dance floor when this production will be finish...
Track after 1:30 it's powerfull and sparkle to me

Give speed to the people

And the Cybernetica machine continues to roll forward eating everything in its path.

Great work man...

A few general comments.

-Love the acid sound at 4.18!! Awesome digital sounding stuff

-Snare at the start is too loud

-Try separating those synth layers some more. they are all fairly active in the upper mids. You might end up with a cleaner sound if you let them handle their own freqs.

-The levelling is very aggressive on this one. Sounds good but your lacking some dynamics in some of the sounds. Ease off on it a bit and see what it sounds like. A fair ammount of clipping too, but you've already stated your fixing that.

-Motif at 5.39 is great. A nice big dollop of cheese in the right place works wonders with this one. You could try a chord shift up or down every 16 bars to add a bit more movement/emotion to it. Might make it too cheesy, but who knows.

Otherwise, great sounding stuff. You manage to adapt your sound to almost every style you attempt. Definately a step in the right direction for your sound I think. Would love to hear more of this style for you =)

Upon a few more listens... I have to congratulate you on the use of a different vocorder for the second line of "We Are the Borg" utterings. That is so sick, it mixes well.

I have to agree about the "cheese"... but it needed it to bring something newwer and more tangible to the layman... like me.

However, I'm still wondering if something could be done about that vocorder... maybe try: "We are the Borg. Resistance is FewTile." That way it will actually say Futile... instead of "Futolle".

@Sparkunian
Glad you like that lazer guns .. I made this one using vanguard using a saw waveform, some pulse width modulation, a very fast filter cutoff modulation by the envelope and LOTS of resonance
Thanks for your detailed comment

@Four_On_Four-er
I like your way of providing very "visual" reviews. They're awesome to read and let me look at my tunes from another perspective. Thanks for the suggestion about the "futile", I trusted the speech synthesizer too much... I'll see what I'll do about the sample...
Thanks to you as well!

@EtherealSL
Hearing that made me smile big time.

@Axolotyl
Always there when I need reviews, at almost every forum there is
Yep, I think now comes the hard part, proper EQing... we will see
Same thanks to you

lol, let me say, this track's got craziness all the way from the start.

reminds me of this song i made when i was newb, and i put in all these fuzz effect instruments lol.

this isnt newb, its actually got some pretty good thought to it.
this would sound really cool if it wasnt so distorted and all lol

1:20 nice mind abusing buildup
1:30 the craziness starts, i like
2:00 nice change here, that vocal thing in the background works well.

this fully reminds me of doctor who shit lol. being attacked by darlects or something.

this is a pretty funky song. id like to here it when you finish making it.

Good hat work.

That clap is a bit loud. I also don't like the sample selection for it. Find something a little less loud and annoying.

Okay this melodic part around 5:39 seems really out of character for you. I like it, though. It's nice to see something different from you. Props.

Nice work.

As far as speech synthesis, though, I'd say don't worry about it. The Borg themselves vascillated on the actuall pronunciation as I recall, and I almost thought it was a sample, myself.

hats are kind of loud, turn them down, loving the drive though.... about 1:18... keep the high tempo, (what bpm??) very psychedelic...
but you should spend time mastering the sound...

edit: ok hearing the melody... does not go with the song... maybe some twisted high cut freq stuff and (your on loopyfruits right??) if your using 3osc... an idea maybe... screw around with the coarse knob of the loudest osc.... bah... just some suggestions.

And to think that I ripped the original Borg vocals:

weBsley - The Borg

It gets worse:

websley - Self Distruct .... (sample taken from Borg Queen)

You stole my idea!
Very hard mindfuck indeed

Thanks a lot for the comments, guys. Unfortunately, I've been quite busy with work the last week (and will be in the next time as well :/)... so I'm not sure when I'll have this one ready... But I really appreciate your feedback
