My Top Tracks for 2005

I know it's a little early but here were my favorite dance tracks of the year so far:

1) The Killers - Mr. Brightside (Thin White Duke Mix)
I've been playing this one out since february and still can't get enough of it. An absolutely brilliant remix of a great punk/electro/pop/synth/new wave track.

2) Matthew Dekay - The Deep Show (DJ Remy Mix)
It's a funky progressive beat with lush chords. Exactly what I play during peak hours.

3) Playgroup - Behind the Wheel (Electroclash remix)
A phenomenal mix of one of my all time favorite Depeche Mode tracks. Sometimes less is more, and this one is a great minimal progressive track that really keeps the integrity of the original version.

4) Steve Porter - Swanky
By far my favorite producer. I'd include everything he produced this year but that would make my list a bit boring. This particular track is just so much fun.

5) Gabriel and Dresden - Dub Horizon
OK, this one's been floating around since last year, but it hasn't failed me in the club yet this year. Sleepy prog at it's best, but that pulsating bassline keeps it interesting.

6) Deep Dish - Say Hello
I was lucky enough to get a hold of this over a year ago, but I still play it out every chance I get. By far their best work in years, if you ask me. It has a pop element about it but without being a commercial for-the-masses attempt to break into the mainstream.

7) Lowriders - Rapattack
Fine, I'll admit it. I like hip hop. A tough house track with a wicked rap over the top of it. 'Nuf said.

8) Coldplay - Speed of Sound (Steve Porter remix)
One of my favorite bands remixed by my favorite producer. In a word: Brilliant. Steve has a way of creating subtle yet elegant melodies for his remixes.

9) Petter - These Days
I could listen to this track over and over. It may not work on the dancefloors, but what a wonderful piece of music.

10) Sultan and Tommyboy - You Make Me Feel Exctasy
The best mix is the Muzzaik remix. I was never a big fan of Sultan's sleepy tribal sound but this one reminds me of FingerFest Inc's "Autoporno" which was an absolute BOMB in the clubs about 5 yeras ago.

To be honest though, I've lost a lot of faith in dance music. A lot of it is getting repetitive and too much of it is sounding the same to me. Maybe playing only one club (Avalon) for so long has caused me lose my "experimental edge" but I'm hoping the scene will move forward as will the music. What do you guys think?

first off...2005 isnt done yet...so technically it's youre top tracks SO FAR...

secondly...if you feel youre too repetitive, wouldnt your crowd feel the same?? shouldnt you stay as interested in dance music as they are, which means being a little more experimental?? i dont konw...just a thought...
