A good set
Amps certainly didn't advertise much for this fantastic event. DJ Monk, DJ C-Speed (I hope it's C-Speed - The beautiful slim and sexy DJ) and DJ Hybrid took turns at the centrestage.
Monk was a bit of a disappointment but it was okay since he was the first one to be on the turntable and the crowd hadn't filled in yet. I don't know but he seems to be playing more and more trashy stuff (Hallucinations - Eh?). And Amps was literally empty untill 12:00!
But that was the only disappointing part of the night and ended at around 12:00. DJ C-Speed (Why do i have the feeling that i keep getting her name wrong) really rocked. She set the tempo for the night. Not trance stuff but definitely high energy dance music whose variation kept people filling the dance floor and busy as well. She ended on a high note and i'd give her thumbs up. The only blemish was, she was spinning CDs and i for one don't like DJs who don't spin vinyls.
DJ Hybrid certainly took on from where she left. He switched from good to Ok to well, average if not trash to excellent and so did keep people guessing as to what's next. He shared the same blemish - spinning CDs.
Amps was really filled out for the most part of the night - something that i haven't seen on friday nights for a long time.
And yes, there were no guest lists for the night. Everyone had to shell out $20. Which is okay considering that those DJs have to make a living as well and 3 well-known DJs in one night does call for some cover. In any case, even though i rarely have to pay any cover at the Amps, i am not against cover-charges.
Those who couldn't make it really did miss some fun.
